A woman named Rambai got the entry in the above 100 categories but had to compete alone because there was no one to challenge her. Yes, there were no other challengers above the age of 85 years to compete with her. She completed the race in 45.50 seconds and set a new record at the age of 105 years. Her accomplishment was that she broke the 100m sprint national record which was completed in 74 seconds by the late Man Kaur in the 2017 World Masters Games.

Since her race, the video has gone viral on Twitter. Spectators started shouting as she began her race and they kept cheering her until she finished the race. Finally, she crossed the last line and it was enough for her to break the previous record.

The video was shared by the Twitter account named ‘Piyush Goyal’, his captions wrote, “This is incredible! 105 years old Super Grandma sprints a new 100m record at National Open Masters Athletics Championship. #Rambai ran alone as there was no competitor above 85. Vadodara #yogaday2022 #YogaForHumanity.”

Earlier Rambai had also got the Gold medal for the 200m category for completing the race in 1 min 52 secs. As per the Times of India, Rambai was quoted saying, “I was ready to run (at a younger age) but no one gave me a chance.”

When asked Rambai about her secret to success she said, “I eat churma, Dahi and doodh.”

Rambai’s granddaughter, Sharmila Sangwan also said, “A pure vegetarian, Nani is particular about having about 250 grams of ghee daily and 500gm of curd.”

Further said, “She also drinks 500ml of pure milk twice a day. She likes bajre ki roti (flat bread made of millet) and doesn’t eat much rice.”
