India is all set to celebrate its 72nd Republic Day on January 26, 2021. And though like every year we won’t have a chief guest to welcome, but we surely do have tableaus that will walk down the Rajpath and add to the aesthetics of the parade.
Anyone who doesn’t know what a tableau is, they simply refer to a group of motionless scene displays from an event, story or history. Each state sends its design for the tableaux to the central government, which selects what among them would be a part of the parade.
Including states, the Indian Armed forces and different ministries can also come up with their own tableau. Here is a glimpse of some of the tableaus that would be a part of the 2021 Republic Day parade.
1. The Union territory of Ladakh is making its debut in the Republic Day parade this year. The Ladakh tableau showcases the Thikse monastery and its culture.
2. The tableau of the state of Tripura has been designed on the lines of AtmaNirbhar Bharat. It’s an amalgamation of livelihood, eco-friendly lifestyle & bamboo made products on display.
3. DRDO’s tableau showcases the major achievements of the year including the complete family of Anti Tank Guided Missiles.
4. Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology tableau will depict India’s digital technology strength.
5. Indian Navy will commemorate the 50 years of its Operation Trident launched in 1971 that helped India and East Pakistan win the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
6. Ministry of Science and Technology with its tableau will honour the Department of Biotechnology that has a crucial hand in helping India fight the coronavirus.
7. The replica of the under-construction Ram Temple makes Uttar Pradesh’s tableau for the year 2021.
8. The rich culture of the historic Vijayanagar Empire will be showcased in Karanatak’s Republic day tableau for 2021. The tableau will feature the famous King of Vijayanagar, Krishnadevaraya and pillars and sculptures of Hampi.
9. ‘Folk Musical Instruments of Chhattisgarh’ is the theme of Chhattisgarh for Republic Day 2021.
10. Republic Day Tableau of Punjab will reflect the unparalleled sacrifice of 9th Sikh Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, who laid down his life to uphold eternal values of humanity, religious co-existence & freedom of faith.
11. Uttarakhand’s tableau ‘Kedarkhand’ will depict Kedarnath Temple in its full glory.
12. Gujarat tableau will showcase Modhera Sun Temple at the Republic Day 2021 parade.
13. A tableau on Lepakshi temple has been selected for the Republic Day parade to be held in New Delhi, representing Andhra Pradesh.
14. Border Road Organization (BRO) for the first time will showcase its tableau at the Republic day parade.
15. Delhi tableau to showcase the renovated Chandi Chowk.
16. The Assam tableau for 2021 will depict the rich tea gardens of Assam.
17. We have no idea what this depicts, but here is the tableau of Sikkim for the Republic Day Parade 2021.
18. Ministry of Labour & Employment’s tableau celebrates the well-being and security of workers through its Republic Day tableau.
