2019 Was Second Hottest Year On Record, ‘Much Extreme Weather Ahead’

As per the United Nation’s World Meteorological Organisation report, the last decade (the 2010s) was the hottest decade on record and 2019 the second hottest year. Moreover, the report added that the world can “expect to see much extreme weather throughout 2020 and coming decades” due to record heat-trapping by the greenhouses.

Last year, top environment bodies have warned that world temperature has breached 1-degree Celcius mark and is set to breach the deadly 1.5C mark in the future. If the world temperature goes above 1.5 it would result in conditions like frequent floods, harsh summers, uneven rain and more of such threating consequences.

The United Nations said last year that man-made greenhouse gas emissions needed to tumble 7.6 per cent each year to 2030 in order to limit temperature rises to 1.5C .
