23 Jawans Killed, 31 Injured In Encounter with Naxals In Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh Director General of Police (DGP) DM Awasthi and CRPF DG Kuldiep Singh confirmed that as many as 22 jawans killed and 31 injured in the encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh. Now, the security forces have initiated an operation where a penetrating face-off resulted in the deaths of 22 jawans.

As per the sources, CRPF Director-General, Kuldiep Singh, CRPF ADG (HQ) Zulfiqar Hassan and IG (Operations) Nalin Prabhat have reached Chhattisgarh today’s morning to enucleate the situation. Officials said that Naxals have decamped with the bullet-proof jackets, weapons, and even the shoes of dead soldiers.

Ministers Addresses the Nation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah condoled the deaths of Jawans in Chhattisgarh. He said that “We will continue our fight against these enemies of peace & progress.

On Sunday morning, honour was paid to the CRPF martyr who is killed in the line of action at the force’s camp.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that “7 injured security personnel who are shifted to Raipur and they are out of danger. Still, 21 personnel are missing and rescue teams are in actions to search them.”

Total 31 jawans were injured and brought to a hospital in Bijapur. Later, 7 jawans were referred to a hospital in Raipur for treatment.

Earlier on Saturday, Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the jawans a speedy recovery. In his tweet, he said, “My thoughts are with the families of those martyred while fighting Maoists in Chhattisgarh.”

Among the jawans martyred, several soldiers were from the CoBRA (Commando Battalions for Resolute Action) unit and others from the Bastariya Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the District Reserve Guard (DRG).

Inspector-General of Police (Bastar) P Sunderraj said that nine Naxals are killed in nearly three-five hours of the encounter. Among them, one was a woman Maoist.
