2nd Wave?: Chinese Capital In Lockdown Mode After Cluster Of New COVID-19 Cases

While they said they have recovered from the COVID-19 the second wave has seemed to have hit. China’s capital Bejing has reported a new cluster of cases. As per reports from Hindustan Times new confirmed COVID-19 cases have shot up to 79 in Beijing with health authorities adding 36 more to Sunday’s tally.

With this certain areas of the capital where cases have come have gone in lockdown. The cases have been reported from the Xinfadi market and the Yuquandong wholesale market in the capital’s northwestern Haidian district. Schools in the region have been shut down by the authorities.

Further, people living in 10 housing estates around the areas would be forbidden from leaving their homes. After reporting no case for 55 days the country of outbreak started recording new cases from June 11. Deputy head of Fengtai District under which the area come has been removed for failing in his duties.

A state of “wartime management” has been declared in the district and authorities intend to test all 46,000 residents living in communities in the vicinity of Xinfadi market (linked with the majority of cases). The first new first identified case had symptom onset on June 9 and was confirmed on June 11.
