After Ram Mandir, 5 Future Temples in India and Their Budgets

The long-awaited grand launch ceremony of the Rs 1800 crore Ram Mandir in Ayodhya finally took place on January 22, 2024, last month. Thousands of devotees have been coming to the temple ever since to seek Lord Ram for blessings. As per PM Modi’s announcement earlier this month, Ayodhya has received over 24 lakh visits in the first 12 days of the Mandir’s inauguration alone.

Other stunning temples in India are now under construction and should open shortly, despite the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya continuing to welcome thousands of worshipers every day. So let’s check which Indian temples are close to completion as well as their building costs:

Future Temples in India and Their Budgets

1. Hanuman Ji’s Tallest Statue

Over the next six years, the Hanuman Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, situated in Hampi, plans on building a 215-meter statue of Lord Hanuman in Kishkindha, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore. It is believed that Kishkindha is situated outside of Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

2. ISKCON Chandrodaya Mandir

Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir is a temple under construction in Vrindavan, Mathura. It is supposed to be the world’s tallest religious monument. It is perhaps one of the most costly temples in the world, with a possible cost of Rs 700 crore. The anticipated opening date is December 2026.

3. Sri Chaitanya Chandrodaya Mandir 

The Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir is a Hindu temple complex under construction in the town of Mayapur, West Bengal, India. It is estimated to have cost around $100 million (Rs 830 crore) and is dedicated to the Pancha-Tattva deities, Radha Madhava, Nrisimhadeva, and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Once it is finished, it will be the largest religious monument in the entire world. It is a temple that holds considerable importance for the Vaishnavite Hindu people. This temple is the primary tourist attraction in Mayapur.

4. Viraat Ramayan Mandir

The construction of Viraat Ramayan Mandir, which is expected to cost Rs 500 crore, started in June 2023. Situated in the East Champaran region of Bihar, it is expected to grow into the “largest Ramayan temple in the world”.

5. Jagannath Dham Sanskriti Kendra

The Jagannath Temple at Digha, a coastal town in West Bengal’s Purba Medinipur district, is expected to be completed in March 2024. Reportedly, the temple, which is expected to be built for around ₹143 crore, will begin receiving worshippers in April of next year.
