On Tuesday, Bangladesh created history in the 2nd ODI match after registering a convincing victory over Sri Lanka. With this win, Bangladesh took an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series over Sri Lanka.

The former captain Mushfiqur Rahim followed up his match-winning 84 in the first ODI by the 8th hundred in the 50-over format. With the help of this, Bangladesh registered a 103-run victory (via DLS method) at the National Stadium in their capital city.

Rahim scored 125 off 127 balls with 10 fours and managed an important 87-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Mahmudullah (41). The partnership helped Bangladesh to score 246 in 50 overs.

In reply to the Bangladesh inning, Sri Lanka batsman struggled from the beginning and the 247 runs chase could never gather any momentum. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shakib Al Hasan made batting difficult for the batsmen and picked wickets at regular intervals.

Mehidy Hasan and Mustafizur grabbed 3 wickets each while Shakib took two and Bangladesh stopped Sri Lanka at 141 for 9. Also, this is the first time Bangladesh has beaten Sri Lanka in a bilateral series in ODI. Also, they are ranked in the ICC’s World Cup Super League points table with 50 points from 8 games ahead of England, Pakistan, and Australia, who are tied on 40 points each.

“Our bowling was special tonight. There’s always an area to improve and you have to be selective with shots on these tracks, it’s not easy to play here. Our batsmen will take a few notes from this innings and come better in the next match,” a beaming Rahim said after the match.
