And, luckily if sometimes the winner turns out to be of Indian origin, you feel prouder. But you must have wondered, how many such beauty pageants exist? And which among all the contests has the highest spot?

First of all, you ought to know that there 4 major beauty pageants that hold the same value. Here they are-
This beauty contest is, ‘The king of all’ when it comes to the existing major international beauty pageants. Reason is simple, because it is the oldest title. Since 1951, this beauty contest is held annually.
The main motto of this pageant is to help the development of the country. Each country chooses a project close to their home which usually is a major cause of concern for that particular nation. It could be anything from pollution to poverty to basically any ongoing major issue.
Aishwarya Rai won the title in 1994 and made India proud. It was followed by Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000) and Manushi Chhillar(2017) who won the title last year.
This is an annual international beauty contest that is run by the Miss Universe Organization. Found in 1952 by a California clothing company Pacific Mills and aims to crown the most ‘confidently beautiful’ contestant.
The main aim is to promote a sense of confidence among the youth and motivate them to achieve their dreams.
Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta have made India proud by winning the title in 1994 and 2000 respectively.
This beauty pageant is also called “Miss International Beauty”. This pageant was created in Long Beach, California, the USA in 1960.
In this contest, the contestants are expected to serve as “Ambassadors of Peace and Beauty”, showing tenderness, benevolence, friendship, beauty, intelligence, ability to take action, and great international sensibility.
The ultimate goal of the Miss International beauty pageant is to promote world peace, goodwill, and understanding. Unfortunately, India has never won this title so far.
Launched in the year 2001, this pageant is one of the top four annual pageants organized by Philippine-based Carousel Productions through the Miss Earth Foundation.
The main motive of this contest is to promote environmental awareness and hence has the motto ‘Beauty with a cause’. With the help of beauty, this pageant promotes and works for the preservation of nature and the protection of Mother Earth.’
Nicole Faria won the ‘Miss Earth’ title for India in the year 2010.
Apart from these major international pageants, there are other notable minor international pageants too. I bet you must have seen these pageants, but you just don’t know about it.
Miss Asia Pacific World
The 2011 search was the first edition of the Miss Asia Pacific World pageant.
There have been a number of controversies with this pageant. Like, the last three wins were stripped off the title.
India bagged the title twice. Himangini Singh Yadu of India was crowned in 2012. The third edition of the pageant was held on 30 October, at Hallyuworld, Seoul, South Korea, where Srishti Rana of India was crowned as Miss Asia Pacific World 2013.
Miss Asia Pacific International
Established and organized in 1968 by a group of professionals, and civic-minded businessmen. It was originally a non-stock, non-profit corporation with the principal intention of promoting peace, goodwill, trade, and tourism among participating nations—in Asia and the Middle East, and the Pacific.
A Miss Asia Pacific International that is a platform for women to learn, improve, and ignite positive change within herself, and the global community. Miss Asia Pacific International inspires women to be comfortable in their own skin and to believe that their individuality is one of the key qualities that make them distinctly beautiful.
This beauty pageant helps to provide opportunities for women to develop their skills, achieve their highest potential, and be the epitome of a strong, empowered and confident woman.
India won this competition back in 2000 and Dia Mirza help India bag this crown.
Miss Tourism International
Globally recognized as a premier international pageant, the Miss Tourism International world final is the ONLY New Year’s Eve pageant that plays host to more than 60 international beauty queens from around the world in Malaysia.
The contest also serves as a platform to educate and promote tourism and cultural exchange among the participating delegates, the Miss Tourism International has grown to be the proverbial vehicle; capturing the essence of the host country and its way of life through the eyes of these beauties.
From India, Manasvi Mamgai won the title in 2008 and earlier Candice Pinto became the winner in 2001.
But wait there are more. There are these beauty pageants that are held on national level. These pageants mostly send its winning contestants to take part in the bigger events.
Femina Miss India
Miss India is also known as Femina Miss India. It is a national beauty pageant which was founded in 1952. The pageant is held in India that annually selects representatives to compete in Miss World. It is organized by the very well known women’s magazine-Femina.
The reigning Femina Miss India titleholder is Anukreethy Vas who was crowned by the outgoing titleholder Manushi Chhillar. India has been successfully sending strong representatives to compete in the four big pageants. And in addition, India has also collected several titles.
Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya Rai, Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, Diya Mirza are some notable international titleholders who were a part of this pageant before they were sent off for participating in bigger events.
Since 2013, Femina also organizes Miss Diva separately which sends representatives to Miss Universe.
Miss Earth India
Miss Earth India, also known as Miss India Earth was founded in the year 1964. This is a title given to an Indian woman who represents as Miss India at Miss Earth.
India is a major participant in the Miss Earth pageant since its inception in the year 2001. Asa matter of fact, from 2001 to 2013 India’s representatives to Miss Earth were selected by Femina Miss India.
Shaan Suhas Kumar is last year’s winner of Miss Earth India.
Miss India Worldwide India
This national beauty pageant was founded in 1990 in India. The winners from this pageant compete in the Miss India Worldwide pageant.
The incumbent titleholder is Apeksha Porwal from Mumbai who was 1st runner up in Miss India Worldwide 2015 held in Mumbai, India.
Gladrags Manhunt and Megamodel Contest
Formed in 1994, Gladrags is an Indian magazine which features modeling and related events.
Each year they conduct the Manhunt and Megamodel Contest, a unisex pageant in India. At the contest, the most appealing male and female models get selected as winner and runners-up and the magazine starts to promote them.
The current winners of Gladrags Manhunt and Megamodel India are 21-year old Ansh Duggal of New Delhi and Karuna Singh of Chandigarh.
Femina Miss India Delhi
This beauty pageant was formed in 2013 in India.
The winners from this pageant compete nationally in Femina Miss India pageant. The first Femina Miss India Delhi was Anukriti Gusain of Uttarakhand.
Elite Model Look India
Similar to Gladrags, Elite Model Look India is an annual modeling contest held in India since 2004. The winner of the event represents India at Elite Model Look, an International modeling contest.
Marc Robinson is the present franchise holder of this contest in India. The current winners of Elite Model Look India are Dipti Sharma and Pranav Patidar.
