This year the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the Belarus rights activist and jailed politician Ales Bialiatski, “ the Russian group Memorial and the Ukrainian organisation Centre for Civil Liberties.”

Berit Reiss-Andersen, chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, announced the Nobel Peace Prize to Ales Bialitski, in Olo, Friday.

Hearing the news, Pavel Latushko, an opposition politician, in Belarus, said that this award of the Nobel Peace Prize, to the Belarusian human rights activist Ales Byalyatski, is for all the jailed politicians of Belarus.

“It’s not only for him but for all political prisoners which we have now in Belarus”, he said. “It motivates all of us to struggle and we are sure we will win with the dictatorship of (Alexander) Lukashenko”
