Despite the process being easy, the Indian Railway Tourism and Catering Corporation (IRCTC) has felt that a small group of people hesitate to book train tickets via the IRCTC website. Thus to make the process even more simpler, the Indian Railways has come up with a new payment gateway – IRCTC-iPay – which is now is now live for use.
The new payment gateway, as per the Railways, will not only help people book tickets faster than ever before but will also allow a quick refund to passengers if and when they cancel their train tickets.
IRCTC added that its latest innovation is in line with the government’s Aatmnirbhar Bharat Campaign. The IRCTC is making quick changes to its website as it is one of the largest e-commerce websites in the Asia-Pacific. As of now, 83% of IRCTC’s reserve tickets are booked on the website.
How to use IRCTC-iPay payment gateway
In simplest words, with the introduction of this new digital payment gateway, railway passengers will not need any third-party platforms to make payments when purchasing a ticket. IRCTC-iPay provides various payment options such as credit card, debit card, international card and Unified Payment Interface (UPI).
To use IRCTC iPay payment gateway, any user booking a ticket via the IRCTC website or app has to provide details and a one-time mandate for the use of credit/debit card of their UPI bank account or another form of payment.
