The COVID-19 is not sparing anyone from its effect. After taking down ‘Prince Charles’ under quarantine it was the of the turn of ‘British’ Prime Minister. The Prime Minister (PM) of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson tested positive for the virus.
Johnson is the first active head of state to be affected by the virus. Earlier the wife of Canada’s PM Justin Trudeau tested positive. PM Johnson tweeted in this regard and said that he has already gone into isolation.
“Over the last 24 hours, I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus“, said Johnson in his tweet. The PM developed mild symptoms on Thursday. This happened a day after he attended the weekly question-and-answer session in parliament’s House of Commons chamber.
The staff at British PM’s official residence Downing Street who came in contact with PM would also be asked to isolate. It is not yet clear how many of them would go under self-isolation. The minister who came in his contact would also be tested and isolated if required. So, far the UK has registered close to 11,000 cases and close to 578 deaths due to the virus.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished good health to the British PM. The PM tweeted ” You’re a fighter and you will overcome this challenge as well”, after hearing that he has tested positive.
