While many of you might be aware that Finland in Europe is the happiest country in the world, fewer people know about the happiest state in India. Hint? Emm!! It is tucked somewhere in the north east and is called the Land of Blue Mountains.
In a unique initiative, a study was conducted recently by a leading management strategy expert, which surveyed 16,950 people in India between March and July 2020 to track the impact of COVID-19 on people.
A part of the survey focused on finding out which is the happiest state in India. And as per the list, Mizoram was the happiest among states and UTs during the lockdown followed by Punjab at the second position and Andaman and Nicobar Islands on third.
Meanwhile, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh are the bottom three.
Sieving the list further, we find that Punjab, Gujarat and Telangana were the top three among the happiest big states on the happiness index while in the smaller states category, Mizoram, Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh claimed the top rankings.
The research names the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Puducherry and the Lakshadweep as the happiest Union Territories.
The research further added that married people were happier than unmarried (well, we wouldn’t doubt that). Also, it indicated that marital status, age group, education and income level were directly linked with the happiness of a person.
When considering the United Nations World Happiness Report 2020, India Ranks 144 out of 156 countries.
