If you are an Indian, it’s impossible that you don’t know this aarti.
As kids, we sang ‘Om Jai Jagdish’ aarti with our moms a million times, haven’t we? But who knew that this aarti will cross country borders and would be sung during a Christian festival.
Apart from witnessing a Punjabi Santa Claus, Canadians experienced something really beautiful during Christmas. It was a performance by school children during a Christmas concert.
A group of school going children were recorded performing at a Christmas concert. The kids dressed in their school uniforms sang ‘Om Jai Jagdish’ aarti with such love and purity that it’s sure to melt your hearts when you watch it.
The video was first uploaded on YouTube and ever since it has gone viral. Even Raveena Tandon shared it on Twitter with an adorable caption, “Om Jai Jagdish hare aarti sung by Canadian kids at a Christmas Concert. One Planet, One People”.
What was so special about it?
Canadian children singing a Hindi aarti is amazing in itself. But there were many other beautiful things incorporated into making the aarti sound even more beautiful. Apart from kids, there were musicians on the side of the stage who played tabla, flute, sitar, and harmonium.

Some think it’s fake
A few Twiiterrattis are debating over the fact that it is a fake video, just like they were arguing over Rapper Caz’s Siri impersonation video. But the result for both came out to be true. Both the videos are authentic.
A Twitter user even stated the facts to prove the authenticity of the video by writing, “Start with 1:27 and focus on the guy with the flute. He puts it down as soon as flute part ends. And tabla player’s hand movements sync with the sound. Not a fake.”
Honestly, we should appreciate the fact that our culture is being adored and accepted to this extent in other countries. But sadly, there are people who are still trying to find out negativity in this video by saying that it’s a scam or there is a motive behind it. All we can say is ‘haters are gonna hate’.
