Outbreak Of ‘Mysterious Disease’ Reported In AP’s Eluru, 345+ Cases In 2 Days

While the majority of people are busy discussing Bharat bandh scheduled for December 8, something fishy is currently happening in Eluru in Andhra Pradesh. An outbreak of a mysterious disease is being reported from Eluru that has the people falling sick.

Several residents of Eluru have been hospitalised in the past few days after they complained of headache, vomiting, giddiness and epilepsy-like symptom. While many patients have recovered but the count of new patients has been steady over the past week.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man, who was admitted to the government hospital in Vijayawada with symptoms of nausea and epilepsy, had died on Sunday.

The illness, as per some reports, could be the result of the consumption of contaminated water but no confirmation on the same has been made yet. Meanwhile, many locals are suspecting the breakout of ‘new disease’ or ‘poisoning’.

As per a report by HT, till now, as many as 345 patients have been admitted to various hospitals with complaints of the aforementioned symptoms.

“Since Sunday night, another 28 patients were admitted to the hospital, including five patients on Monday morning. So far, 180 patients were discharged after being treated for symptoms,” staff at a hospital said.

As of now, water samples and blood samples of patients of the patients have been sent to for testing purposes.
