Centre Not In Favour Of Reallocating Kashmiri Pandits

As it would repeat the situation of the 1990s, when the Kashmiri Pandits were forced to leave the Kashmir Valley due to reiterated threats and attacks, the centre is not in favour of reallocating the Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus from the valley to Jammu, said to a senior Government official.

No Stop In Targeted Killings

No Stop In Targeted Killings

Targeted killings in Kashmir valley of civilians are not in stop, this reason has forced Union Home Minister Amit Shah to have a meeting with “National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Secretary, Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) Samant Goel and Special Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB) A.S Rajan” on Thursday.

Another meeting is expected on Friday between Mr Amit Shah and Lieutenant-Governor, Jammu And Kashmir Manoj Sinha. They are likely to consult about the security arrangements being made for Amarnath Yatra, and a quick discussion on the targeted killings.

Kashmiri Pandits that are employed under the “Prime Minister’s special rehabilitation package from 2008” and Hindus employed under the “Scheduled Caste category” are demanding to relocate to Jammu from the Government.

Heightened Demands

No Stop In Targeted Killings What Are The Demands

Continued targeted killings have raged the demands even more, on May 12, a revenue officer, Rahul Bhat was killed in his office, Budgam. Another incident took place on June 1, when a Hindu teacher Rajni Bala was killed when going to work, next on June 2, when bank employee Vijay Kumar from Rajasthan was killed in his office at Kulgam.

An official said while responding to the demands, “Though we are seized of the matter, the administration cannot agree to the demands of minorities to move their stock and barrel to Jammu. The government employees can be posted in district headquarters and at places where adequate security is available.”

So far 18 Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus are killed in the valley after article 370 was written down by the Parliament in the year 2019.

Regarding the killings, an official said, “Anonymity and floating population gives the terrorists a cover to carry out attacks with impunity in Srinagar and nearby areas. The terrorists are now leaderless and faceless.”
