Chief Ministers Advised PM Modi To Extend Lockdown Beyond May 3 In Video Conference Meet, Lockdown 3.0 On Cards?

With the final week of lockdown 2.0 starting, today Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi interacted with Chief Ministers (CMs). The video conference with CMs of various states was to discuss about further strategy. This was the 4th video conference among CMs and PM amidst the pandemic.

With around 27,892 cases reported so far and the last week witnessing 24 hours cases record broken twice question of lockdown extension was there. CMs of Meghalaya and Odisha urged to PM Narendra Modi to extend the lockdown with some additional rider. Out of the total 9 state CMs who interacted with PM 4 called for lockdown extension beyond 3rd May.

  • Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma said that the state will continue with lockdown beyond May 3 with restrictions on inter-state and inter-district movement

  • PM Modi urged all CMs to ensure that people register in Aarogya Setu app
  • West Bengal CM said Will leave no stone unturned to fight COVID-19
  • Bihar has started door to door screening, said Bihar CM Nitish Kumar 
  • Himachal Pradesh CM says lockdown should continue considering the issue with other states as well
  • The focus will be on containment zone says cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba
  • Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik urged the Centre to initiate measures to kickstart the economy
  • We have been aggressively testing people with symptoms because bordering states have reported cases, says CM of Himachal Pradesh
  • Gujarat chief minister Rupani says that the Centre should take a decision on extending lockdown in the interest of the country

While lockdown 3.0 looks on card PM Modi said that states would have to decide on issues like how to revive economic activities. Any decision about the extension is to be taken in lockdown has to be taken by all said the PM.
