China To Evacuate It’s Citizens From India Amidst Pandemic As Tensions At Border Rises

As border tensions between India and China and the number of cases of COVID-19 in India are on a rise China is looking at evacuations. The Chinese embassy in India issued a notice about the evacuation of its citizens from India. The notice comes at a time when the two nations are on the verge of Doklam like aggression.

The Chinese embassy’s notice has asked the students, tourists, business people, etc to book tickets on special flights. It has asked its citizens willing to return to China to register by the morning of May 27. No details or timings of the flights have been made public by the Chinese authorities so far. Testing and temperature screening would be done. “If your body temperature exceeds 37.3 degrees (inclusive) before boarding or if you have suspected symptoms, you will be refused boarding by the airline“, read the notice from the embassy.

Those going back under evacuation would have to pay not only for flight tickets but for their 14-day quarantine post landing in China as well. On borders the Chinese troops have been transgressing into Indian territory in several places in Ladakh and Sikkim this month. The news of a recent face-off that took last week also surfaced.
