Coming together and putting a hand of help forward is the idea in these times of pandemic. And this couple from Odisha has just done that presenting a beautiful example. Putting to rest their wedding celebrations they thought of doing their bit in the tough times.
The groom, Jyoti Ranjan Swain’s, and his in-laws family ditched the wedding celebrations to donate money into Odisha CM Relief fund to help fight the COVID-19. The families of the groom and bride who had made elaborate plans for the wedding donated Rs 10,000 to the fund.
Though wedding programs with up to 50 people are allowed under lockdown 3.0 they didn’t go for it. “We had earlier arranged a grand function but the lockdown threw a spanner in the works. So we decided to donate a part of the money saved for the wedding to help the state combat the pandemic“, said the groom.
The couple then had a low key wedding with proper adherence to social distancing norms. The police inspector of the region and block development officer (BDO) also attended the wedding. “There was no social gathering. The couple distributed sweets after the ceremony. It was a simple affair“, said the BDO.
