After Delhi HC asked the Centre about rollout of booster doses of Covid-19 vaccine and their necessity, Centre has given a reply that decision is yet to be made.
National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) and National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Covid-19 (NEGVAC) are collecting scientific evidences for dosage schedule of vaccine. The expert bodies are also looking into the need and justification of booster shots. Government has advised people to get their vaccination shots in time.
As per Government, the existing priority of National Covid-19 Vaccination Program is to provide full vaccination to entire eligible population. There are no current guidelines for booster shots.
Government further added that the scientific data about duration of immunity provided by vaccine is limited and it will take a certain period of time to establish any evidence.
