Covid-19 Vaccination For 12-14 Year Old Starting Soon; Know When?

Government allowed vaccination of children between age 15-17 in January and two months after that it has opened the window for children under age 12-14. The Covid-19 vaccination drive will start in two days from March 16 and the estimated population of this age group is close to 7.11 crore according to government sources.

Children between age 12-14 will receive shots of Corbevax that has been developed with joint effort of Hyderabad based company Biological E and Baylor College, USA. Children will be given 2 dosage of this vaccine at an interval of 28 days. Drug Controller General of India has given the permit. Health ministry has said that the decision was taken only after long discussions with relevant scientific bodies in the country.

This means that if your child is born anytime in 2008-2010 then you can get them vaccinated. This step comes at the time when schools have started reopening in several states. Covid-19 Vaccination will make sure that children will be safe and there will be very low risk of spread of infection in schools.

Aged population over 60 years of age and frontline workers are also eligible for booster shots. India has shown great potential after PM Narendra Modi launched vaccination drive in 2021. Till now the robust vaccination drive has crossed a milestone of 180 crore dosage as informed by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday.

Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted, “Powered by the spirit of Jan-Bhagidari, the world’s largest vaccination drive is touching new heights under PM Narendra Modi Ji’s leadership. Keep following COVID appropriate behavior even after getting vaccinated. #SabkoVaccineMuftVaccine”
