New Delhi: Covid-protocol Funerals Crossed 500 Mark On Friday

The official daily count for the Covid-protocol funerals in Delhi has crossed the 500 counts on Friday. As per a municipal official looking after the Covid funeral management, 539 such funerals carried out on Friday till 6 pm. He also said that the big facilities like Green Park, Punjabi Bagh, and Nigambodh Ghat now operate till midnight.

According to the municipal corporation’s Covid funeral report, 272 bodies received at 9 different centers under South Delhi Municipal Corporation, 223 at 10 burial grounds, and 44 at six facilities under East Delhi Municipal Corporation.

The city has now bet the daily limit of 400 marks on Friday. Before this, Delhi recorded 410 Covid funerals on Tuesday. However, the official added to his statement that “In the wake of the continued rise in deaths, two sites have been added to the Covid-protocol funeral centers in Paschim Vihar and Haiderpur. Many Delhiites have complained about the wood shortage and long waiting lists. 

Many facilities in Delhi are running beyond capacity. On Friday, Beri Wala Bagh cremated 18 Covid bodies against the capacity of 12, the Panchkuian Road facility cremated 29 Covid bodies against the capacity of 15 and many more. 

Not only this, but burial grounds are also under stress. The Mangolpuri facility has got 12 bodies and ITO Firozshah Kotla getting 8 bodies yesterday. The burial manager said that the ITO burial ground is running fast out of space.
