In the last year, the cases for Covid cases have increased all across the world. In India, the second wave of Covid-19 has entered, and currently, the country reports over four lakh Covid cases daily. Previously, Covid-19 shows few common symptoms like fever, body ache, headache, etc. Additionally, the experts reported a range of complications that have borne out of the viral disease. One such complication is blood clotting or thrombosis.
Experts have reported that certain Covid-19 patients who had severe and moderate Covid-19 developed blood clotting in their blood vessels. However, if the blood clotting is not treated within time, it can cause stroke, heart attack, loss of limbs, etc.
On May 5, Dr. Ambarish Satwik (vascular surgeon with the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi) posted a picture on Twitter that has now gone viral. The posted photo shows the blood clots that Dr. Satwik was able to take out from the lower limbs of a Covid-19 patient.
Taking on to Twitter, Dr. Satwik said “What Covid19 clots look like. It produces blood clots. The incidence of heart attack, stroke, or limb loss due to an arterial clot in Covid-19 varies from 2-5 percent. We pried these out of the lower limb arteries of a Covid19 affected patient. We were able to save the limb.”
Since then, the tweet has been re-tweeted around 4,000 times and 10,000 likes on Twitter.
