As the attackers on JNU are still to be arrested after 3 days support has been pouring for students from across the country. Bollywood is not shy in extending its support to the students and after a peaceful protest at Gateway of India, it was time for standing with them in Delhi.
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone visited the JNU yesterday evening to present her solidarity to the students. Though she was in the city to promote her upcoming movie ‘Chhapaak’ the actress showed the courage to stand by the students knowing that her action would invite adverse reactions.
Deepika arrived at the Sabarmati T-Point in the university where a public meeting was being held. The meeting was organised by the JNU students’ union and the teachers’ association against the Sunday’s attack on students that left more than twenty people injured and hospitalized.
Deepika stood by the crowd as the former JNUSU president, Kanhaiya Kumar raised slogans and the current President Aishe Ghosh who was injured in the attack was standing alongside him.
Social media took Deepika’s visit in a split manner. While many praised her for her action others criticized her and call for boycotting her movie. On Wednesday #shameonbollywood and #boycottchhapaak were trending on Twitter expressing anger against Deepika’s visit and the coming together of various celebrities in JNU’s support at the Gateway of India.

Meanwhile, it came to the notice yesterday that FIRs were filed against injured students including the JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh by the JNU administration for destroying the servers. Police is still investigating the matter to nab the attackers of Sunday’s violence.
