Delhi Adopts ‘Odd-Even’ For Opening Shops In Lockdown 4.0, Haryana Says Orange Zone Rules Would Prevail, West Bengal To Open Shops In Malls

After the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) laid out guidelines for lockdown 4.0 it was on states to take things further. Most of the states including West Bengal and the NCT of Delhi rolled out their guidelines on Monday. Delhi got it’s favorite odd-even rule back but in a different style.

As per the rule, markets and shopping complexes can reopen on an odd-even basis in Delhi.  Buses would also ply with not more than 20 passengers. However, salons, barbers, and spas would still remain closed in Delhi. With over 10, 500 cases the Kejriwal government has allowed offices to work with full strength. However, the CM has said that promote work from home as far as possible. Other guidelines ranging from vehicular movement to marriage processions were in line with MHA’s rollout.

Haryana, on the other hand, has adopted a different approach. As states have the option to decide the zones in lockdown 4.0 Haryana has declared the whole state as Orange zone. This is of course apart from those zones that are under the contaminated category. Activities allowed in the orange zone would be allowed in the state in sync with the national guidelines.

Meanwhile, West Bengal whose death rate due to COVID-19 is higher then the national average has adopted a relaxed approach. The state has allowed private offices, even those inside shopping malls, to work with up to 50% of staff. Inter-district buses are also allowed from the 21st of May in the state.
