Delhi NCR Felt Strong Termors, 4 Earthquakes Hit Nepal in One Hour

Delhi felt strong shakes on Tuesday due to multiple earthquakes in Nepal. First was a 4.6 magnitude, followed by a bigger 6.2 quake just 25 minutes later. Another hit with a 3.8 magnitude 15 minutes after the second, and a fourth of 3.1 magnitude struck 13 minutes later, at 3:19 PM IST.

The first earthquake hit at 2:25 PM. Another one, measuring 5.2, struck Arunachal Pradesh at 3:27 PM IST, followed by a 3.3 magnitude tremor in Uttarakhand. The strongest quake’s epicentre was 206 km southeast of Joshimath in Uttarakhand and 284 km north of Lucknow.

“Earthquake of Magnitude: 6.2, Occurred on 03-10-2023, 14:51:04 IST, Lat: 29.39 & Long: 81.23, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Nepal,” said NCS on X.

The earthquake shook Delhi and nearby areas. After the second quake, people in Delhi-NCR felt strong tremors and left their offices. Videos of everyone rushing out of buildings spread on social media.

“We hope you all are safe. Please come out of your buildings to a safe spot, but do not panic. DO NOT USE ELEVATORS! For any emergency help, dial 112,” said Delhi Police.

Tremors were felt in places like Lucknow, Hapur, and Amroha in Uttar Pradesh. Uttarakhand also experienced shaking after the back-to-back earthquakes in Nepal. Chandigarh, Jaipur, and other parts of northern India felt the tremors, according to PTI news agency.
