Delhi Reports ’20 Deaths In 24 Hours’ As COVID-19 Cases Are on Rise

The situation of COVID-19 in the capital city of New Delhi is not looking to improve anytime soon. Delhi which is just 2 shy of 8,000 cases has reported 20 deaths due to the virus in last 24 hours. The number of cases also rose by 359 in the same time.

Delhi’s health minister Satyendar Jain informed the media on Wednesday. ” Twenty deaths and 359 new positive cases were reported in Delhi in 24 hours till midnight yesterday, taking the total number of cases to 7,998 and deaths to 106. Three hundred forty six people have been cured/discharged taking the total number of recovered cases to 2,858“, he said.

Delhi sits at 4th position in the country in terms of number of cases at present. The Delhi government has meanwhile said that the total number of tests in the city has crossed the 1,00,000-mark. One positive for Delhi is that it has highest number of tests per million in the country.

In Delhi the rate of testing is 5,200 per million. Capital’s recovery rate is 33 per cent touch higher then the national rate of 32%. CM Arvind Kejriwal meanwhile announced suggestions form residents yesterday in regards to easing of lockdown. The deadline for submission of suggestion was 5 P.M. till Wednesday.
