In an event showcasing the situation of minorities in Pakistan, the Gurudwara Nankana Sahib was attacked by mob on Friday. The mob also pelted stones on the Gurudwara and threatened to destroy it.
The mob was led by the family of Mohammad Hassan, the boy who allegedly abducted and converted Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur, who happens to be the daughter of the gurdwara’s granthi.
Ministry of External Affairs also issued a statement condemning the vandalism of the holy Sikh shrine in Guru Nanak’s birthplace. Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh also tweeted about the event and urged Pakistan PM Imran Khan to take action.
