Dhoni Shares What CSK Over The Years Has Taught Him In A ‘Humble’ Interaction

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has been on a sabbatical since the World Cup 2019 semi-final loss against New Zealand, is all set to return on the field for IPL 2020. However, before what most of the people are speculating to be his last cricket appearance, Dhoni got in a conversation with Start Sports to share how CSK has over the years helped him stay humble.

“This journey started in 2008, CSK has helped me improve in everything whether it was being a human being or being a cricketer, handling situations that are tough both in and out of the field and how to be humble once you are doing well,” Dhoni was quoted as saying on Star Sports.

Dhoni, who has led Chennai Super Kings ever since the team was announced, shared how he is loved among the South Indians. He revealed (nothing that has to be revealed actually) how people address him as Thala, which makes him feel special.

“‘Thala’ basically means brother, so for me, it’s more the abstract of the fans, the love and affection towards me is the reflection of that. Whenever I am in Chennai or down South they never call me by my name they address me as ‘Thala’ and the moment someone calls me Thala they are showing their love and respect but at the same time he is a CSK fan,” he added.

Dhoni, to this day, has played over 190 IPL matches (including two editions for Rising Pune Supergiants). He has led Chennai to three IPL victories and two Champion League trophies.

Walking on the field led after 6-7 months will be a different experience for dhoni altogether. And we hope he is all rejuvenated to play his best cricket and shut the trolls.
