Disney+ Hotstar Launched In India, Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The Same

The timing couldn’t have been more appropriate for Disney+ to launch its streaming service in India. And it is finally here. With the country under lockdown, the thirst to stream online content is currently at its peak among people and gladly, Disney+ Hotstar is loaded to quench the same.

Disney+ in India has been launched under Hotstar and has been named Disney+ Hotstar. Every Hotstar user will now have access to a variety of Disney original content besides Hotstar content.

Anyone who wants to get access to the Disney+ content can buy a subscription among the new three available for now. These are – Disney+ Hotstar VIP, Disney+ Hotstar Premium and a basic ad-supported free tier.

Hotstar VIP, which was earlier available at Rs. 365, has now be renamed as Disney+ Hotstar VIP and will be available at Rs 399 to the subscribers. Subscribing to the same will give a user access to movies and shows from Marvel Cinematic Universe, superhero movies and popular Disney movies like The Lion King and Frozen II in addition to the Hotstar VIP content.

Hotstar Premium also has a new name, Disney+ Hotstar Premium, and will cost you Rs 1,499 against the earlier price of Rs 999. The Premium version will allow you access to 29 critically acclaimed Disney+ Originals and latest American shows from studios like HBO, Fox and Showtime.

If you have a Hotstar plan already, your account will be automatically upgraded to the new subscription plan. And you will be charged with the revamped amount next time if you choose to renew the plan.

The updated platform has a separate Disney+ section that will help users navigate content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic easily. There is also a kids-safe mode with age-appropriate content for kids.
