After Delhi-NCR the earthquake has found a new target in Gujarat. The Western state of India is rocked by 2 quakes in less than 24 hours. After being jolted by a quake last night the tremors again hit the state. Both times the center of effect was Rajkot.
Recently a 4.4 Magnitude Earthquake has originated Near Gujarat’s Rajkot. A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck near Gujarat’s Rajkot at 8.13 PM last night. The epicenter of the quake that hit last night was 118 km north-northwest of Rajkot, according to National Center for Seismology (NCS).
The One that hit Monday afternoon also has the epicenter close to Rajkot with NCS reporting it to be 83 km northwest (NW) of Rajkot. No casualties or loss of property have been reported after both the quakes so far. Kutch, Rajkot, and Patan were the districts that felt the effect.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani held telephone conversations with the District Collectors of these regions after yesterday’s earthquake. ” Entire Saurashtra and north Gujarat regions, including Ahmedabad, felt the impact of the quake. The aftershock was of lower intensity. There is no report of any major damage to life and property from any area after the quake“, said Deputy CM Nitin Patel.
Also, 30 minutes after the Gujarat quake, a 2.9 magnitude tremor was recorded 90 km east of Katra in Jammu and Kashmir. Regular earthquakes have left the nation jolted and rocked amidst this pressure of pandemic. Delhi-NCR has been the frequent receiver of it so far with around 14 quakes in around 60 days.
