The most awaited award night of the year was all set in the happening city of Los Angeles for its 71st edition. The award ceremony went out without a host this time but actor and comedian Thomas Lennon joined in as the announcer.

The Best Drama Series
The ever so popular Game of Thrones aka GOT which premiered its 8th and last season earlier this year grabbed the honors. The series has already won million hearts and the award was just the fitting piece of appreciation that was needed.
Crowd at the event applauded the star cast and the team and gave them a standing ovation.
The Best Comedy Series
The British comedy series Fleabag starring Phoebe Waller (who is also the creator and writer of the series) won the award under the best comedy series category.
The series has aired two seasons with the latest one released March this year.
Best Limited Series
Craig Mazin’s historical drama Chernobyl based on the unfortunate nuclear accident that happened in the erstwhile Soviet Union bagged the award under this category.
The series depicts the Chernobyl nuclear disaster of April 1986 and the unprecedented cleanup efforts that followed.
Best Actress (Comedy)
Taking the honors in the best actress comedy category was none other Phoebe Waller for Fleabag. It was all good for the Fleabag team at the award night.
Both the leading actress and the series bagged the awards under the respective categories.
Best Actor (Comedy)
The lead star from the popular American tragicomedy “Barry” Bill Hader grabbed the award. “Barry” has aired two seasons so far.
1st season aired in 2018 and the latest was telecasted on HBO in March this year.
Best Actor (Drama Series)
American actor Jason Kent Bateman bagged the award for her performance in the crime drama series Ozark.
Billy Porter from the series “Pose” scripted history by grabbing the award under the category alongside Jason Kent Bateman and others.
He became the first openly gay black man to win the trophy in the Lead Actor in a Drama category.
Best Actress (Drama Series)
It was once again the GOT flavor that carried on its trend in the award nights with Emilia Clarke winning the best actress in the drama series award.
Jodie Comer, Viola Davis, Laura Linney, and Mandy Moore were amongst the others who grabbed the award under this category.
