The State Bank of India has discontinued its special assistance plan,’ three months ahead of schedule, for staff afflicted with covid. This is the latest development. In the midst of the third wave of covid-19 infections, the nation has seen an increase in daily reports. There were over 2.5 lakh instances reported on Monday in the nation. It was reported by The Economic Times that starting January 1, 2022, the unique scheme would be included in the current medical plan.

The employee with the covid infection received Rs 20,000 as part of a special programme to help with treatment and other costs. October 2021 saw this programme extended until March 31, 2022.

The decision has angered bank staff, and that’s understandable. The third wave of the epidemic afflicted a substantial number of SBI employees, according to ET. There is a high probability that bank personnel will get infected with the virus since they are among the first responders.
