Exciting News for Delhi Commuters, WhatsApp to Offer Bus Ticket Booking!

The Delhi government is trying to digitize the whole bus-riding experience. Inspired by the success of Delhi Metro’s WhatsApp ticketing, the city’s Transport Department plans to offer online tickets via WhatsApp for both DTC and cluster buses. The method will allow commuters to buy bus tickets instantly without having to wait in huge lines or fumble for the correct change.

The city government’s Transport Department has declared that it is working on implementing a digital ticketing system for DTC and cluster buses on WhatsApp. “We have been a pioneer in introducing technology in various transportation sectors.” According to Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot, the WhatsApp-based ticketing system would boost digital ticketing.

“Using technology makes the journey more convenient while also increasing system transparency.” We have begun work in this direction, and this facility will be given to the people of Delhi shortly,” he added.

Notably, in May of this year, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) inaugurated a WhatsApp-based ticketing system. This simple service has subsequently been expanded to include all Delhi Metro circuits, including the Gurugram Rapid Metro. Implementing a comparable approach for Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses will further simplify the ticketing procedure for all city public transportation passengers.

How to Purchase Bus Tickets using WhatsApp

Commuters will be able to buy bus tickets online once the service is launched, with the ease of chatting and connecting on WhatsApp through the chat window. Passengers who want to buy a bus ticket on WhatsApp should do the following:

  • Send a message with the text ‘Hi’ to +91 9650855800 on WhatsApp.
  • The chatbot will then offer information about bus routes, rates, and other appropriate factors.
  • Commuters can then choose their preferred bus and complete the payment process.
  • The ticket service accepts payments via UPI, credit/debit cards, and other means.
  • Alternatively, customers can use their smartphones to scan the offered QR code for a smooth ticket-buying experience throughout the whole network.
