Fact Check: Is This How Taliban Trafficking Aeroplanes By Truck To Pakistan?

Since the Taliban captured Kabul, the goods and human smuggling activities in Afghanistan have increased, says the report. Amid all these, a picture of an aircraft stashed inside a truck is circulating on social media claiming that this is how the Taliban trafficking aeroplanes by truck to Pakistan.

A Twitter user posted an image with the caption, “Trafficking aeroplane by truck to Pakistan. Welcome to the Pakistani occupied Afghanistan.”

While digging deeper into this, we found that the claim along with the image is misleading. Actually, it is an Afghan Military Aircraft that crash-landed at Daikundi in central Afghanistan in the year 2017. Later, the damaged Cessna aircraft carried onto a truck from the accident area.

Some users have commented on the above tweet that the image has been taken from an Afghan military crash-landed aircraft in central Afghanistan. With the help of this clue and keywords, we managed to get an old tweet by journalist Ehsanullah Amiri from his verified handle dated October 3, 2017.

In the social media image, we can see the registration number “YA12303” on the plane’s body. With the help of the “Aviation Safety Network” website which has a huge database on plane accidents from different parts of the world.

As per the data available with “Aviation Safety Network”, the aircraft, a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, registered as “YA12303” was operated by the Afghan Air Force.

Also, the same incident was reported on “Tolo News” on October 3, 2017. Here is a snap of the post:

Therefore, the claim is proved wrong as it is an old plane accident that was crashed-landed in 2017 in Afghanistan.
