Yesterday was a big day, as the BJP government has revoked Article 370 from the constitution that grants the special status to the former state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Knowing that the special status has been scraped, scammers/pranksters started sending fake land and property sale messages, offering lucrative land deals in Jammu and Kashmir.
One message that has gained more attention and verified as a fake message, reads, “Book your land at Kashmir Laal Chowk Rd from 11.25 lakh starting with GST. KASHMIR 370 removed. Limited stock! For more details call on 9019292918.”
Fake Property Sale Messages In Kashmir
Soon after Home Minister Amit Shah announced the revoking of Article 370. Along with the official news, memes also flooded the internet. One of that meme was talking about buying land in Kashmir.
As previously, under Article 35A non-Kashmiri (outsiders) were not allowed to buy property in the area. You, me and other peoples outside Kashmir were not allowed to settle down in the beautiful valley of Kashmir.
All this was to ensure that protection of the local population demographics of J&K. But now there can’t be Article 35A without Article 370. But a report published by HuffPost tells that these messages are fake.
Although the number listed on the message belonged to a real estate company. But it’s a company from West-Bengal, companies real name is Eden Realty. In the past, they have worked on projects commissioned by the state government.
But this time it was all fake, after inquiry, the company revealed that no such messages were sent out by them. HuffPost quoted a representative of the company saying that it is impossible to provide land at that affordable price. It has to be a fake advertisement.

While many people took these messages as a joke, while some people are actually thinking about investing in property in Kashmir. But unfortunately, outsiders still can’t buy property in the area.
