If I tell you that you can get your dream house built of ‘Paper’, then surely you would laugh at me. And if tell you that they are fireproof and waterproof and you only have to wait 2 weeks to get them built then you surely would kick my ass.
Well, this is a reality, and not in any foreign country but in our very own India. Hexpressions a Jaipur based startup has made all this a reality. The start-up’s ready to assemble green homes take about two weeks to install. The walls of these houses are made from recycled paper, which is fireproof and waterproof.
Since its inception in 2018 Hexpressions has built 6 such sustainable and environmental-friendly home in India. Run by architect husband-wife duo Abhimanyu Singh and Shilpi Dua the startup has really given an innovative house solution.
The houses are built using composite honeycomb sandwich panels. 1 sq. ft of these panels can withstand up to 100 kgs of load. Each of these panels are constructed using strips of sturdy recycled paper which are folded in a hexagonal shape and arranged like cells

The hexagonal-shaped cells are then sandwiched between two panels made from plywood or cement fiberboards. To maintain shape and structure galvanized iron channels are used on the four edges of the panels.
Iron hollow pipes in rectangular and square shapes are also used in the installation to provide structure to the home. The house build by the startup are also soundproof and have shock-absorbent capacity.
