Going official after speculations of possible Amazon and Netflix like service, Walmart-owned e-commerce giant Flipkart has finally launched its OTT content streaming service. The service namely “Flipkart Videos” caters TV shows and premium movies for free. Interestingly, Flipkart has decided to embed the content within the Flipkart app rather than launching a dedicated video-streaming app for the same.
Flipkart Videos entertains a gallery of entertainment content, Bollywood movies, and Hindi TV shows. The majority of shows have been licensed from Viu, Dice Media, TVF and Arre. The movies, on the other hand, are from different production houses, including Viacom’s Voot. No Hollywood content has been included in the service as of now.

Moreover, what was expected to be a free service for only Flipkart Plus members comes as a free service to all the users. Flipkart Videos let you access content free of cost. Just install the Flipkart App, log in, swipe right on the home screen, head to the ‘Videos’ section and enjoy watching.
The genre of movies and shows available on the platform goes from romance, action to adventure and drama. In addition to Hindi videos, you can also explore Tamil and Kannada video content. Clearly, the home nurtured e-commerce giant is striving hard to offer more localized content to the audience.
Apart from videos, Flipkart has also launched a social feed like service called ‘Flipkart Ideas’. The ideas section is like any other photo-sharing app that lets you share the pictures of products you had purchased from Flipkart. You can access the service by clicking the ‘Ideas’ button after swiping from the left.
The idea behind the new additions is surely to keep users engaged. Bored of scrolling through thousands of products available on Flipkart? Tune in to the Videos section to enjoy your favourite shows while enjoying what is possibly yet another fun thing to do – shopping.
