Travel plans are being stifled once again due to the extremely infectious Omicron strain.

India has seen an increase in the Omicron version of COVID-19, with the country’s Omicron tally reaching 1,700 on Monday. With 510 Omicron instances, Maharashtra came out on top, followed by Delhi with 351 cases. In India, the variation that was initially discovered in South Africa is spreading like wildfire. The virus has infected 23 Indian states so far. The travel and tourist industry will suffer as a result of the new variation. If business or pleasure travel was on your mind, it could be time to postpone or cancel that ticket.

Travel plans are being stifled once again due to the extremely infectious Omicron strain. Although, unlike earlier epidemics, the omicron spike hasn’t resulted in the same number of hospitalizations and fatalities.

The five states listed below have contributed the most Omicron instances to the country’s total.

  • Maharashtra: Maharashtra recorded 11,877 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, with 9 fatalities. The state also discovered 50 additional Omicron cases, bringing the total number of new Omicron cases to 510. In Maharashtra, there are currently 42,024 active Covid-19 cases. According to the health bulletin, the Mumbai municipal authority performed 47,410 tests in the previous 24 hours.
  • New Delhi: In the previous 24 hours, the National Capital recorded 2,037 COVID-19 instances and one fatality. So far, 351 Omicron instances have been reported in the city. With so many Covid instances, it’s only natural to avoid visiting Delhi anytime soon.
  • Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu has recorded 121 instances of the newest coronavirus variety, with 20 of them active, and 98 persons discharged in the previous 24 hours.
  • Gujarat: In the first 24 hours of January 2, Gujarat recorded 968 new Covid cases, 141 recoveries, and one death. In Gujarat, the number of Omicron cases has grown to 136.
  • Kerala: Kerala has now reported 45 new cases of the Omicron type of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of omicron cases in the state to 156.
