If you are 18+ in age and holding a PAN card then this news is useful for you. If PAN and Aadhaar are not linked, then get them linked as soon as possible. If not, the Permanent Account Number will become inoperative from next month. The Central Government had extended the deadline to link them once again. The last date to link Aadhaar and PAN are 31st March 2021.
The entire PAN card not linked with Aadhaar would declare inoperative and useless after the due date. Failing to link these two documents till the deadline might be penalised for ₹10,000 as per Section 272B of the Income Tax Act.
How to link PAN with Aadhaar Card?
PAN card is important at different stages like buying mutual funds, opening a bank account, buying shares, and making cash transaction of over Rs 50,000. However, here are the steps you need to follow to link them.
Step 1: Firstly, visit the income tax department’s e-filing portal.
Step 2: After this, hit the “Link Aadhaar” section from the home page.
Step 3: Now, fill in the Aadhaar number, name, and PAN number.
Step 4: Enter the CAPTCHA correctly.
Step 5: Hit the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option and the PAN Aadhaar Linking process will get complete.
Now, the I-T department will verify and validate the enter details such as your name, gender, and date of birth against Aadhaar details.
Link Aadhaar Card and PAN through SMS
If you are unable to link Aadhaar and PAN Card through the e-filling portal, then try using SMS. In this method, you are simply required to type UIDPAN and send it to 567678 or 56161 from your registered mobile number.
Format – UIDPAN (12-digit Aadhaar number) (10-digit PAN) and send it to 567678 or 56161
Steps to Link Them Manually
If the above two methods have not worked to link PAN with Aadhaar then get it done manually. In this method, simply visit a service centre for PAN. Fill the ‘Annexure-I‘ form and provide supporting documents such as a copy of the PAN card and your Aadhaar card. Also, you will be required to pay a service charge for this method.
