After a long day at work, all you need is just a few hours of solid uninterrupted sleep. But believe it or not, sleep is as hard to come as your success. Even after sleeping for straight 8 hours, you still feel sleepy. Your mood is grumpy and it’s just not the best feeling you want to get up with every day.
Generally, even your planned 8 hours of sleep gets interrupted. Every time you toss and turn in your bed, the situation gets worse. Sometimes you might even not feel that your sleep has got interrupted, but it did.
Interrupted sleep can make you irritable, anxious or depressed. You’ll get frustrated easily and find it hard to cope with stress like you used to. After knowing all this, it becomes even more important to get a good night sleep. And in order to help you, here are the tips that can help you get a good night sleep.
1. Sleep schedule is important
Irregular sleeping hours are never good for your health. It might look tempting to sleep long hours on weekend (to make up for the rough sleep you get through workdays). But, it’s not helping much. On the other hand, setting a sleep schedule (by getting to and up from the bed at the same time every day), you help to regulate your body clock.
2. Set a ritual
Some people do meditation before bedtime to calm their mind and soul. While calming their mind, they are also making sure they have uninterrupted sleep. Even kids sleep better when they follow a ritual. It can be taking a bath before sleep or a bedtime story. Similarly, you can also read books, take a bath every night to ensure you wake up with a happy mood the next morning.
3. Create a great sleep environment
No one really pays attention to their sleep environment and this can be the reason behind interrupted sleep. But now you know, so make sure your room is dark, cool and quiet. Noise, light and warm temperature can cause an interruption in your sleep. Put some dark shades in your room, put your phone on silent and turn on your AC.
4. Get away from your electronics
This one you must have already heard off. Blue light emitting from the screen of your smart gadget can affect your sleep. Get away from screens an hour before your bedtime. But in case you can’t avoid getting away from the screen because you have a presentation to make, simply install a light filtering app on your device. This will turn the colors of your screen a warm tone.
5. Your bedroom is for sleep and sex
Do you ever wonder why we have a name for different sections of the house? Ever wonder why they call so? Your bedroom is a place where you go to sleep every night. Don’t set up your home office and invite stress in your sleep. Make sure there are no distractions in your bedroom so that you can enjoy your sleep and sex in peace.
These are the things that you can do you make sure you have a good night sleep. Other than that see what you are eating at your dinner. Unhealthy food can also affect your sleep.
