Google Chrome Logo Is Getting Changed After 8 Years

Google has taken decision to change logo of its search engine browser ‘Google Chrome’. Elvin Hu, designer at Google Chrome has said that the changed logo will give a modern experience to the product and it will sync more with other Google products.

Elvin Hu posted a long thread on Twitter to give the information. He said, “On Chrome OS, they use brighter colors without gradients to match the looks of the rest of system icons. On macOS, they look 3D. For Beta and Dev, we applied colourful ribbons to them.”

The new logo rolled on February 4 by the company and you can see it on Google Chrome Canary; the developer version of the product. The logo will rolled out in a phased manner in few months for rest of the world.

He said, “We simplified the main brand icon by removing the shadows, refining the proportions and brightening the colors, to align with Google’s more modern brand expression.”

Further he added, “Fun Fact: we also found that placing certain shades of green and red next to each other created an unpleasant color vibration, so we introduced a very subtle gradient to the main icon to mitigate that, making the icon more accessible.”

The logo will become more vibrant and as shadows have been removed the centre will look bigger.

Hu said, “You might ask, “Why bother with something so subtle?” We tailor Google Chrome experience to each OS, with features like Native Window Occlusion on Windows, day-one M1 support on macOS, Widgets on iOS/Android, and Material You on Android. We want our brand to convey the same level of care.”

He also said that we are open for feedback. It will help us to improve the product as it is completely user centric. Over time, Google has made the logo simpler and we agree that it looks much cooler now.
