The PAN card is essential for tax purposes and verifying identity. It consists of a unique ten-digit alphanumeric code crucial for filing income tax returns.
Sometimes, our names on official documents may differ due to errors or discrepancies with our Aadhaar card. People may also need to update their PAN cards for legal reasons.
To successfully link your PAN with Aadhaar, make sure the information on both documents matches. If you need to change your name on your PAN card, one easy way is to use your Aadhaar card.
Simple Steps to Change Name in PAN Card:
Step 1: Go to the official website. Click “PAN Card Services” and choose “Change/Correction in PAN Card.”
Step 2: You’ll be taken to the PAN Data Change/Correction application page.
Step 3: Enter your information and click “Continue.” Remember to note the token number. Choose the “Physical” option to submit the application with physical documents, but complete it digitally using eKYC and Esign.
Step 4: Check the box for “Aadhaar-based e-KYC” and save. All details will be updated according to your Aadhaar card.
Step 5: Provide your PAN number and select how you want to receive the updated PAN card: both physical and e-PAN or just e-PAN.
Step 6: Enter the last four digits of your Aadhaar number. Decide whether you want the same photo on your PAN card as your Aadhaar card.
Step 7: Input your name exactly as it appears on your Aadhaar card.
Step 8: Fill in all required personal details and make the payment.
Step 9: After successful payment, an acknowledgment will appear. Click “Continue.”
Step 10: Your Aadhaar details will be verified with the UIDAI server, and the application will proceed.
Step 11: You’ll receive an OTP on your registered UIDAI mobile number. Enter it and approve using your UIDAI address on the PAN form.
Step 12: Confirm all details and submit your application.
