Height Of Addictiveness: Teenager Spends Whooping 16 Lakh On ‘PUBG’ From Parents Account

We all know how addictive this game PUBG is (if you haven’t played it yet kudos) however, spending lakhs on it would be something you would not imagine about. A teenager from Punjab couldn’t resist his addictiveness for the game and ended up wasting Rs 16 lakhs from his parent’s bank accounts.

Yes, this 17-year-old boy spent Rs 16 lakhs to buy in-game cosmetic items, artillery, passes for tournaments, and virtual ammunition. The money he wasted was set aside as savings for his father’s medical expenses. The parents were unaware as the boy told them he was using smartphones for studies during the lockdown. The smartphone came in handy for the boy as the bank details and card details were saved on the smartphone only.

He used to make the purchase in-game and would delete the amount deduction message from the side of the bank. Out of total transactions, the majority of them were made in during a month’s time. The parents came to know about his act finally through bank statements. The boy used to often shuffled money between two accounts to avoid zeroing down the balance. In his lust for the game, he ended up emptying his mother’s provident fund and his own bank account.

After we received details from the bank, I found that on several occasions, he shuffled amount from one bank to another to avoid nil balance. He was using his mother’s phone for quite some time and she was not much vigilant to notice this“, said his father. To teach him a lesson the father has made him work at a scooter repair shop. “I just can’t let him sit idle at home and cannot give him a mobile phone even for studying. He is working at a scooter repair shop so that he realizes how hard it is to earn money. I am hopeless now as the money was saved for my son’s future“, he said.
