India recently stopped an attempt by China to “unilaterally change the status quo” in the most disputed region Tawang of Arunachal Pradesh. They acted to transgress the Line of Actual Control (LAC. which Indian forces stopped last week, the Government asserted in Parliament today.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, today made a statement, which reads that Indian forces prevented a land grab attempt by Chinese forces in Arunachal Pradesh, and compelled the Chinese troops to return to their posts.”

China has asserted that the situation is “stable”, “As far as we understand, the China-India border situation is stable overall,” said Wang Wenbin, Spokesperson from Foreign Ministry. He also asserted that both sides “maintained unobstructed dialogue on the border issue through diplomatic and military channels.”

Mr Sing informed, no soldier was killed or sustained a fatal injury during the clash between two forces, on December 9. “The government had spoken to China through diplomatic channels soon after the border clash. Our forces are ready to meet any challenge on the border,” he stated.

He also added, “The scuffle led to injuries to a few personnel on both sides. I wish to share with this House that there are no fatalities or serious casualties on our side”.

The opposition was not satisfied with Rajnath Singh’s statement and stressed out to carry an immediate discussion on the crucial border issue.

“Many parties demanded that all other parliament businesses be on hold for a threadbare discussion on the India-China border issue,” mentioned NDTV.

“Home Minister Amit Shah accused the Congress of disrupting proceedings as a question on Rajiv Gandhi Foundation was listed for today,” mentioned further.

To discuss what will be the Centre’s response in the parliament, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Met the Military and diplomatic heads, PM Modi, and other Senior Ministers, before the meeting.

Party President, Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, said “We are one with the nation on the issues of national security and would not like to politicise it. But the Modi government should be honest about the Chinese transgressions and the construction at all points near the LAC since April 2020.”
