Indian Railways To Run Shri ‘Ramayan Express’ From Next Month, Bookings Already Open

Giving tourists an absolute delight Indian Railways is set to launch a new train next month. The train named Shri ‘Ramayan Express’ would run from 28th March. As the name suggests the train would cover sites associated with Lord Ram.

The train would have 5 sleeper class non-AC coaches and 5 AC 3 tier, coaches. As per Indian railways, the booking would be on a first come first serve basis. This is a second such tourist train under the ‘Ramayan Circuit’. A similar train was rolled out last year with all sleeper class coaches. The train got a tremendous response.

The train would begin its journey from Delhi and go till Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu. For those who want an extended tour an add-on tour to Sri Lanka has been launched. The add on tour has limited 40 seats. In its 16 days and 17 nights tour, the train would cover following prominent places (in India):

  • Ram Janmbhoomi and Hanuman Garhi at Ayodhya
  • Bharat Mandir at Nandigram
  • Sita Mata Mandir at Sitamarhi (Bihar), and Janakpur (Nepal)
  • Tulsi Manas Mandir and Sankat Mochan Mandir at Varanasi
  • Sita Samahit Sthal at Sitamarhi (UP)
  • Triveni Sangam, Hanuman Mandir and Bharadwaj Ashram at Prayag
  • Shringi Rishi Mandir at Shringverpur
  • Ramghat and Sati Anusuiya Mandir at Chitrakoot
  • Panchvati at Nasik
  • Anjanadri Hill and Hanuman Janm Sthal at Hampi
  • Jyotirlinga Shiva Mandir at Rameshwaram.

Those who have picked the extended tour would have to deboard the train on the 15th day in Chennai. From there they would be taken to Colombo, Sri Lanka on board of Sri Lankan Airlines Aircraft. Major places covered under the Sri Lanka leg would include:

  • Sita Mata Mandir
  • Ashok Vatika
  • Vibhishana Temple
  • Shiva Temple at Munneshwaram – Munnavari

The return journey would be offered on a flight (economy class) from Colombo to Delhi.

Navratri Special Food

Tourists would be offered a pure vegetarian meal and that to ‘Navratri Special’ meals. Since the run of the train coincides with ‘Chaitra Navratri’ special food would be served to tourists.

The ‘Navratri Special Food’ would be cooked without onion and garlic. Fasting food like Sabudana Khichdi, fruits, curd, and potato chat would also be at the offer. Accommodation and washing facilities would also be available to the tourists at the Dharamshala.

For Sleeper Class: Normal Accommodations

For AC Class Booking: Hotel Accommodation

In Sri Lanka, the accommodations would be offered in any of the covered places that include Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Negombo Sight-seeing arrangements are done by non-AC buses and a dedicated tour manager of IRCTC would be there.

Sleeper Class Package: Rs 16,065 per person

AC Class Package: Rs 26,775 per person

Extended Sri Lanka Tour Package: Rs 37,800 per person
