IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans Received Major Blow As Jason Roy Left

England batsman Jason Roy pulled out of IPL 2022 by citing the challenges that he would face challenges to stay in tournament bubble for a long period. In IPL 2022 Auction Jason was signed by Gujarat Titans at a base price of Rs 2 crore. He gave his decision to the new IPL Franchise last week and the team is still finding a replacement.

He recently played for PSL 2022 and the match was played in bio secure bubble and left the league in just 6 matches. But he showed an exemplary performance and became top batters in the league. In 2020, Roy got picked by Delhi Capitals in the auction for base price of Rs 1.5 crore but he opted from the league due to personal reasons.

This season IPL will be an event with 10 franchises playing against each other in two cities, Pune and Mumbai for over a span of two months. Jason Roy would have to play the matches in bubble throughout the season. This means that he would be away from his family including his second child who is just two months old.

He is not the only player who could not get his head around bio secure bubble restrictions. Several players have gotten fatigued by the restrictions that they have to follow when they play in bubble. Last year several players opted out of the league before the start of the league and even between it in order to take care of their mental well-being.

Jason has played for Gujarat Lions in 2017, Delhi Daredevils in 2018 and Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2021. He went unsold in IPL Auction 2021 but was brought in as replacement for Mitchell Marsh. He has scored a total of 329 runs in 13 matches in IPL and has a strike rate of 129.01.
