IRCTC Ticket Modification: Change Your Boarding Station After Booking Your Train Ticket

IRCTC(Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited) allows the passengers of Indian Railways to change their boarding station after the tickets have been issued and booked. Various emergencies and sudden plans can lead to changing of boarding stations by the passengers. This change in the boarding station is only applicable when the passengers book their Indian Railways tickets online. This change will not be valid if the same has been done taking the help of travel agents or the Passenger Reservation System.

Steps To Change Your Boarding Station After Online Ticket Booking

• The first is to visit the official website of IRCTC: https://www.irctc.co.in/nget/train-search 
• Now you need to log in using your username and password.
• In the next step, you have to go to My Account > My Transactions > Booked Ticket History
• In the next step, you have to choose the boarding station and select the “Change Boarding Point” option.
• After that, you will see a pop-up window will appear on your screen which will include the list of all the boarding stations between your selected route and you can choose your desired boarding point.
• The Indian Railways station system will ask for your confirmation and you need to click on “OK” to change your boarding station.
• After that, you’ll receive an alert message that will state that your boarding station has been successfully changed.
• You will receive updated boarding station information on the mobile number you provided while booking your tickets.

The Indian Railways passengers who have booked their tickets online are allowed to change their boarding station 24 hours before the scheduled departure. Once the passenger has changed their boarding station will not be allowed to board the train from the original boarding station. If Indian Railways found any person doing the same then will lead to huge fares along with a penalty between the original and the changed boarding point.

Some Rules For Changing The Boarding Station After Online Booking

• Indian Railways allows its passengers to change the boarding station only once.
• The change in boarding station will not be allowed if the passenger ticket is seized.
• The passengers will not be allowed to change the boarding stations for the PNRs with the VIKALP option.
• The change is boarding station is not allowed for the passengers who booked the tickets taking the help of travel agents or the Passenger Reservation System.
• The change of boarding ticket is not allowed for current ticket booking.
• The change in the boarding station can only be processed 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.
