Reliance Jio 5G services launched in India. The Telco giant is offering these 5G services only in selected cities currently. But Jio has plans to expand its ultra-high-speed 5G services across India till the end of next year. However, as of now, Jio 5G is only available in four metro cities only.
Reliance Jio 5G Services Launched In Four Metro Cities
As soon as PM Modi released 5G services in India last month, both Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio announced their upcoming 5G strategies. These two telcos have promised to offer their 5G services across all urban and rural areas of India till the end of 2024.
As for only Reliance Jio, its 5G services are currently available in these four metro cities- Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.
“The telecom operator has confirmed the rollout of the Jio 5G service pan India. The company said that the complete rollout of the 5G service will happen by the end of 2023”, as mentioned by India today.
Jio 5G Download Speed
According to Ookla Network Speedtest, for both Airtel 5G and Jio 5G, the recorded download speed was up to 809.94mbps. For details, info reports suggest that the Jio 5G network speed displayed 600mbps (598.58mbps exactly), in Delhi. Meanwhile, for the other three cities which include Kolkata, Varanasi and Mumbai, the recorded download speed stats are 482.02mbps, 485.22mbps and 515.38mbps respectively.
Welcome Offer By Jio 5G
Shortly after announcing its 5G services in India, Reliance Jio announced its welcome offer for 5G service customers. You will be surprised to know that, Jio is offering its unlimited 5G services at zero cost which, reportedly, will provide a data speed of 1gbps.

“Reliance Jio hasn’t revealed any details related to 5G plans yet. The company has just mentioned that currently, 5G service will be available on 4G plans for eligible users. Notably, under the Jio Welcome Offer 2022, Reliance Jio is offering free 5G service”, mentioned indiatoday.
How To Activate Reliance Jio 5G?
To access the 5G network of Reliance Jio users should have a 5 G-enabled phone, a 4G sim card and an invitation from the company. To check if you are invited to use Jio 5G you can launch the My Jio app. And if you find yourself invited then follow the instructions and complete the prompts to access the network.
