The Kalka Shimla Toy Train’s History

The Kalka Shimla Toy Train's History

Shimla was formally designated as the British Empire’s summer capital during the British occupation of India. There was no good way to get to Shimla during that time. Whatever method was accessible, it was dangerous and time-consuming.

So, in November 1903, Britishers launched the Kalka Shimla narrow-gauge train to enable simple and speedy access to Shimla. Lord Curzon enjoyed the inaugural train journey, and the train has been operating continuously since then, except for maintenance interruptions.
