Karwa Chauth Special Train Cancelled By Government After Only Two Couples Sign Up For A Journey

The one-time the Indian government tried to “think hatke” we Indians ditched it bad.

The Indian railways had to cancel, what they called, Majestic Rajasthan tourist train – tipped especially for Karwa Chauth – after it failed to attract enough bookings.

As per the railway officials, the train’s itinerary included a journey through romantic destinations like Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer attracted bookings from a mere two couples.

The train was to depart from Delhi on October 14 making its way through historical sites in Rajasthan like the Jaisalmer Fort, Patwon ki Haveli, Gadisar Lake, Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Amber Fort and City Palace till October 18.

As Karwa Chauth falls on October 17, government while launching the tour package had said it could be the best “gift to one’s better half”.

To ensure comfort at its prime, IRTC had also made special arrangments within the train including shower cubicles, foot massager and special arrangements for kids.

High fares up to – Rs. 1,02,960 per couple for AC first class and Rs. 90,090 per couple for AC 2 Tier – could have been the reason for the low turnout, says the railways. I mean obviously.
